#78. when the heavens light up

A try at a Sylvia Plath-style poem

March, 2007

It's so hard, it is
To be out there, in the lonely
In the grand charade of a battle field
Bullets flying, piercing

Words, then actions, at the heart
Only catalysts of a cyclical
Chemical reaction, with a
Hazy storm cloud overhead

But at the end of the day
Clear as raindrops on a glass shield
It's between You and me
That I don't want to stick my head in the oven
